I was legit ready for next years AP class...till i saw the summer reading list.. Holy. Moly.
Anyone Else Taking the Class? Or in the class??

"The Prince Of Darkness Is A Gentleman" ~Shakespeare

"She Chewed Her Lip And Lowered Her Head, Playing Distractedly With Her Doll. "What If I Got Sick And Died, Mama?"
"You Won't Get Sick," Mama Said, Glancing At Her. She Smiled. "You're Far Too Healthy And Young To Die."
Sarah Watched Her Mother Brushing Her Hair. It Was Like Sunshine Flowing Over Her Pale Shoulders. Mama Was So Pretty. How Could Alex Not Love Her? "But If I Did, Mama, Would He Come Back And Stay With You?"
Mama Went Very Still. She Turned And Stared At Sarah, And The Horrified Look In Her Eyes Frightened Her. She Shouldn't Have Said That. Now Mama Might Guess She Heard Them Fighting.....
"Don't You Ever Say That, Sarah."
"But----"
"No! Don't You Ever Ask Such A Question Again. Do You Understand?"
Mama Had Never Raised Her Voice Before; Sarah Felt Her Chin Quiver. "Yes, Mama."

Chapter One .

Chapter one is basically a biography on why he wrote the book and stuff. He talks about a bible story im pretty sure everyone has heard of "  Sodom and Gomorrah" in the bedside Gideon Bible and likens himself to Lot’s wife, who against God’s will looked back at the burning cities and was turned into a pillar of salt. Vonnegut muses on the book he has just written as an inevitable failure, and he resolves not to look back anymore.

Caught off gaurd.

Okay i haven't been reading.. caught me. still on the beginning of chapter four, incoming posts on the previous chapters coming up! :P

My thoughts on "The Great Gatsby"

Oh Gosh. You know how you watch a certain movie like say ... The Dark Knight Rises and you think Batman dies...then you find out he doesn't and you get all excited and all these emotions start coming in and you can't ccontrol them? Thats the way i waas with this book .__. I was shocked when Gatsby got shot... I mean he didn't even get a chance to ruine Tom's Marriage and steal Daisy. Thats what i was expecting. It also was not a shocker that all his friends disappeared after he died. I mean he was rich.
There was something I wanted to discuss, and that was the light at Daisy's house. I honestly think that it conforted him because he was so lonely and to see light and life in that house it just made him happy that Daisy was happy. Im not so sure how to explain it right but hopefully you understood that. Amazing book tho. A Must read for all english lovers. :)

Chapter 9...

So i guess Gatsby is dead.. 2 years later Nick wrote the book. and talks about how Gatsby's friends all dissapear and yeah he just goes from there, very simple chapter..

Chapter 8!!!!!!!!!!! READ IT .

Oh gosh... now that i actually get into this book, i CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!!
Its just that good. Here are the ighlights in this chapter:

1. Gatbsy Had sex with Daisy. Yeah i said it.
2. I like the part in the book where Nick turns around and shouts that Gatsby is worth more than the Buchanans and all of their friends(:
3. WILSON SHOOTS GATSBY AND KILLS HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEN SHOOTS HIMSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yeah thats it..
Stay tuned for chapter 9..

You must read chapter 7 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So testing was pretty boring in class today... -_____-
So i decided to read the reast of chapter 7 !!

Here are some important parts..

1.  Myrtle gets hit by a car and dies.
2. Gatsby and Daisy kill Myrtle on accident
3. Tom KNOWS that Daisy and Gatsby love eachother
4. Tom tells Gatsby............

Yeah YOU gotta read the rest cause i alreadygave out the good part.

What went wrong?

Kay, so first of all, Thank you for being super patient with us today.. Ugh so i think the scavenger went pretty good But things could have went alot better. Originally the plan was to do a scavenger hunt on the blogs, Now for that one you wouldn't have had to leave your seats.. Thats pretty lame cause we're always sitting down. But it would have been pretty funny just to watch everyone stare at their phones (x oh wait...We do that anyways haha..
The idea for that would have been to look through everyones blogs to fine the quote and guess whoi the Author was.. BUT the issue was that Not everyone has a smart phone.. so that wouldnt be fair.. So we decided to make you guys get up and go hunt for them.. but it kinda got switched around to the point where we even confused ourselves and i didn't know how to explain it right Next time I'll just have to Use the 2 weeks wisely.. even though it didnt even feel like 2 weeks! Also with "Brave New World" Im like on chapter 5 (x ! and we have to finish it by Thursday. Which might not be as impossible as i think.. I might prorastinate cause im good at that. Well Due to time and stuff today, i hope you guys learned something.. and feedback would be amazing btw. Thanks !(:

OH and if you guys have the chance check out the Skype Chat with JP!! it was incredible!!:)

MAPLAN...

Scavenger hunt Saaay whaaaat?!:D
Amanda, Danny, Carla, Melissa, Shelby, Jasmine And I, doing seperate authors and pretty much doing a hunt on the blogs with little clues and stuff and
We will then end the post with a link to one of our group members blogs whose modernist has a relation in some way shape or form with the modernist we are doing. The last few words on the posts will be a very strong quote that will give the reader a idea on who the modernist is. As they bounce from blog to blog and search from clue to clue they will end up on a possible video (unconfirmed ) that will end the scavenger hunt and announce who the modernist is. The video should include more quotes and facts and our own opinions on the modernist.

ALSO.. I hope we continue doing out blogs cause if we end up doing bookwork i will be highly upset.... with myself..
I also want to apologist to Dr. Preston for not posting and stuff So pleaseee don't make us do book workk :(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

My Essay About These Wonderful Modernists. :)

Well, In all the stories theirs at least a glimpse of the future. or a little taste of what they think it looks like in their eyes.Or how it is today. For example, The Story "The first seven years" by Bernard Malamud he shows a lot of generational differences in education and technology like today. A lot of people have their own opinions and ideas. But it also shows how people don't approve of it.. like for example Miriam's dad and how he doesn't approve of the choices shes making. it also proves that things are only going to get worse and education is just going to be pushed aside. Another story we read was "Fahrenheit 451" By Ray Bradbury. I considered it modernist because he shows a glimpse of what he thinks the future would be like without books. In this story people aren't allowed to read books or basically have their own opinion. Once their privileges were taken away they couldn't help but get curious! i mean i would too! imagine someone taking away you're iPhone but, it's still connected and you can still receive messages.. wouldn't you be super omega curious of what those messages contained?!?!!.. well i would. We also read and memorized " Richard Cory " Edwin Arlington Robinson. Now that one gives a powerful meaning. Richard Cory was a normal guy on the outside, but on the inside he hides his thoughts and in the end he ends up taking his life. That was shocking to every reader who thought it was about something else like i did.........cause i honestly didn't see that coming. I guess he's got a lot of "Inner and Outer" stuff. OK confession. I don't really remember what that is but Im guessing "Inner" is Your own thoughts. And "Outer" Is your view on life.. But.. IMAGINE!!!! Oh goodness..i mean his outer appearance was wonderful!! But I really wish that the Author would have put some UGHH.. At least a clue That he was going to kill himself.! Modernism means different things to these Authors..And it's amazing reading about their individual opinions. Im really looking forward to seeing and reading about more individual opinions. Let the adventure begin!:)

My Modernist (:

                                   Joseph Conrad :)

Joseph Conrad wrote many stories and Novels. Here's some sad information.. :

In 1861 Joseph’s nationalist father, who was an outspoken supporter of the serfs and critic of Poland’s oppressors, was arrested along with his wife for being involved with the Polish National Committee’s anti-Russian activities. They and four-year old Joseph were exiled to the province of Vologda in Northern Russia. The living conditions and harsh climate took their toll on Joseph’s parents: they both contracted tuberculosis, Evelina dying of it in 1865, Apollo in 1869. He was celebrated at his death by the Poles in patriotic honour.
Shaken from their deaths and also suffering from various health problems that would plague him for the rest of his life, at the age of twelve Joseph became the ward of his maternal uncle Tadeusz Bobrowski (d.1894), a landowner who lived in Cracow, Poland. He would be a great support to Joseph morally and financially for many years to come.

He was then sixty-two years old and had been for a quarter of a century the wisest, the firmest, the most indulgent of guardians, extending over me a paternal care and affection, a moral support which I seemed to feel always near me in the most distant parts of the earth.” (A Personal Record, Ch. 2)
As well as speaking Polish, Joseph had been taught French by his governess Mlle. Durand and received some schooling from his father. Now his uncle hired a student from Cracow University to continue his education, tutoring him in Latin, Greek, geography, and mathematics although Joseph disliked the formality of lessons. He was by nature full of nervous energy and physically active. His frustrated tutor soon learned that from an early age he yearned to travel on the seas and go to the ‘dark continent’ of Africa. In 1874 with his uncle’s blessing and as a way of avoiding conscription by the Russians, Conrad travelled to the bustling port town of Marseilles in southern France. As an important hub of the French Merchant Marine, Conrad was soon able to find employment with several French vessels over the next four years. It was the beginning of his fifteen year career as seaman during which he would meet so many of the men who would figure largely in his works.
Life at sea was challenging but full of thrills and adventure and suited Conrad well who at times had a tempestuous personality. He visited many of the major ports of the world and worked on every kind of vessel possible including the ‘Sainte Antoine’, ‘Duke of Sutherland’ ‘Palestine’, ‘Otago’ and ‘Tremolino’. He was involved with gunrunning and smuggling for a time, and in the off hours incurred a number of gambling debts. When he could not repay them he attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the chest. He survived and his uncle paid off his debts but he lost his position with the French merchants so joined the English ship ‘Mavis’ in 1878. Two years later he passed his third mate’s exam and in 1886 earned his Master’s certificate in the British Merchant Service and became a British Citizen. It was at this time that he changed his name to Joseph Conrad. His next few years of service took him to various ports of call including the Malay Archipelago, the Gulf of Siam and the Belgian Congo. Under the employ of the Societe Anonyme pour le Commerce du Haut-Congo in 1890 Conrad at last plunged into the ‘dark continent’ and wrote his ‘Congo Diary’ that would later become The Heart of Darkness.

Im Really hoping we read some of his stories!!! :)

i think i understood the Story " The First Seven Years"

Bwaaaahhhaaahhhaaaaaahaaaaaa I totally knew this story was about love XD !! kidding lol totally didnt see it coming ha, i thought it was about shoes ! I mean C'mon ! haha....
So, i guess Miriam doesn't like Max... BUT.. Feld discovers that his assistant Sobel is in love with her....And I guess she likes him too.......................................... :O......didnt see that one coming did you.. ? Yeah neither did I.
OMG.. so i was looking for summary notes and i came across this one..

"Hence the title of the story, which is an allusion to the Biblical story of how Jacob labored in the service of Laban for seven years to win the hand of Rebecca, whom he loved."

Has Anyone ever read that story in the Bible?!!?!?!!!???!! Well i have ! totally makes sense..!!!

Here's how i envisioned this story .

In the beginning you have a hard working Father who works hard for his business and he also takes good care of his daughter and only wants the best for her. But hen we have the Daughter who only wants material things.. and Education is last on her list.
So her Father was working one day and see's a well educated boy who cares about his future and his career.. total opposite from his daughter. His name is Max. So Max agrees to go on a date with Miriam and I guess Miriam didn't like geeks...... xD

L.A. (:

The Book I Read Is Called " Keeping Secrets " By Alyson Noel.
It Was Freaking Awesome!(:
Seriously I Think I Read It Twice!
The Plot Of The Story Is Basically trying To Remember Who You Are Or Used To Be.
In This story Echos Sister Is Murdered And She Has Been Consumed In All The Grief Of Her Family And Loses Hope In Her Self. The Author Uses Both Approaches By Providing A Diary Of The Sister ( Zoe ) Who Got Murdered. I Guess The Author Shows A lot Of Depression In The Way She Describes How The Life She Lives Has Gotten So Sympathetic After The Tragedy. HONESTLY, I Seriously felt Like I Was Standing On A Set Of A Movie Being Filmed, I Got REALLY, REALLY Into It!!! I Maybe, Might Have, Read It Three Times c:
So Anyways It Was A GREAT GRREEEEEEAATTT Book(:

                     Ok Bye Now (:

I AM HERE.....I Think :(

Oh Gosh. I Don't Even Remember What My " SMART " Goal Was To Begin With!
But Of Course I'm Here!! I'm All Game (:
I Know Lately Things Have Been Insane In My Crazy Upside Down World But Im Trying My Hardest To Catch Up On All The Posts' Im Missing....(Im Kind Of Hoping There Isnt Many .__.)
The Fact That Grades Are Going In Makes Me Feel All Anxious And Nervous About Everything.
I Have A Legitimate Excuse For Not Being On The Blog So Much And Kinda Slacking :/ But I Promise Things Will Get Better And Hopefully I See Another 'A' On My Progress Report.. So I Better Catch Up On My Posts' BUT For Now About The " SMART " Goal I'll Just Stick To Catching Up....:)

Dover Beach Relatible Poem .

Well the Poem is Basically about Losing All faith and Hope. So here Is what we Got:

Reaching out to something I may never find
Keeps me from moving forward, afraid of what I'll leave behind
It's always dark and there's a chilling cold here
Where around every corner there's something new to fear
I cannot move with no light guiding me
It's impossible to gain distance when I cannot see

The rights the wrongs, how do I tell
When all I feel are the arms of this living hell
Release and trust are things I fear to feel
So now before you God I desperately kneel
Its not the fist time I've felt so frayed
But this time Lord I turn to you instead of the blade

Help me find answers to the questions I don't know
I'm praying for your presence to somehow show
I have picked up broken pieces before
Though I fear I've lost some as they've shattered to the floor
I as you to please now take my hand
I'm not sure I have anyone else who will understand

I've lost all battles within myself it seems is true
Please dear Lord don't let me lose this one too
Show me the path I must now take
But please God hurry, my wills about to break.

THE PEEVED PEDESTRIAN

Well I Think Ray Bradbury Might Have Wrote This Book To Inform Us To Cherish The Fact That We Have Books And We Are Allowed To Read Them With No Expense Besides Having To Swipe A Library Card. I Think This Because..Well.. Why Else Would You Write A Book About People Who Burn Books?!

I Found Out I Was A Poet... I Already Knew That (;

Rhythms, Rhymes, Poems...*Sigh*.
Within 30 Minutes My mind wanders...into the wildest places. Somewhere. but at this very second, I'm in space. Always. Every single time I hear " write a poem" that's where I end up. I think of the outside world. What's it like ? May I go there please ? Why not ? How so? I like to imagine what it's like. How it feels not having oxygen in an unfamiliar place far away from my comfort zone. Imagine dying up there. No one knowing your there in the first place... Just out of oxygen..floating..motionless.

It Only Took About 10 Minutes To Do It... But iWanna Add To It... Any Ideas ? :o

My Literature Analysis Book

Well, This Semester We Were Supposed To Read A Lit An. Book. But..I Have A Confession.....Here It Comes...I Finished It.
Yes...I Know.. We Barely Started....I Guess I Got Super Into The Book That I Couldn't Put It Down!!!!
The Book Is Called "Keeping Secrets" By Alyson Noël.
It Was Like An Amazing Mystery Book That I Bought At Barnes &' Nobel Like 3 Months Ago And I Didn't Think About Reading It Till We Were Supposed To Pick A Book This Semester For Class (Yes I Know, Why Buy It If Your Not Gonna Read It! But I Had No Time To Read It! But I Did!).
This Book Was About A Girl Who Lost Her Sister, But It Doesn't Tell You What Happened To Her..So Pretty Much Your In Suspense.. I Wont Tell You What Happens Until I Have To Do My Next Analysis .. (:

OH! And Follow My Blog, It's Simple. I'll Return The Favor As Well.(:

Theme For English B............ (:

Here Are The Questions &' My Personal Answers.

Are you the person your teachers think you are?
No. I Don't Think So. All They See Is Writing On A Paper. They Don't Know My Story..Or Where My Interests Are Aimed At.

Can you be your real self as you pursue knowledge and find your place in the world?
Of Course!!! :D Everyone Has A Place In This World.. You Just Really Have To Try Not To Pretend You Like Football.. And Speak Up And Say Soccer &' Volleyball Are Beast ! (That Was An Example Btw..)

What elements of you do you have to check at the gate when you get to school?
Goodness.. Uhm.. Im Pretty Much The Same Person When I Enter School And When I Enter My Front Door..You Just Have To Gimmie A Chance To Voice My Opinions.

Do you have interests, talents or experiences that could add meaning to the class and enrich the learning experience for you and others?
Well.. I Love Reading..And Here's A Secret.. Sometimes I Have This Fantasy That One Day I'll Become A Famous Journalist..Buut We Will See..

What elements of you do you think is valued by school and the "powers-that-be"?
hahaha..Thats A Funny Question.. haha..Attendance. lol. Kidding... I'm Not So Sure I Think I'll Take A Rain Check On This Question.

What do you feel compelled to keep private?
Well If I Told You It Wouldn't Be private Anymore. I Don't Really Have Secrets Tho..So..Basically Nothing..Just Ask Me And I'll Be Open To You And As Honest As I Can Be.

Is it possible for you to take ownership of your learning process and demonstrate what you know, or is your role in learning a function of authority and power relationships?

You Know What.. I Think We Learn Things Differently When We Look Into it Ourselves.. Cause When I Say Something Smart It Usually Begins With " In School I Learned That.." And So On. So I Guess Some Credit Goes To The School. BUT. Credit To You For Holding On To That.
And When  Look Something Up.. Haha i Really Just Google, But The Best Way To Learn Is To Do Something Extraordinary So You Can Start Off With " So When I Was In High School I Taught Myself To.."
So Yeah There It Is :)

My SMART Goal............... :I

So..I Looked Up The Word " GOAL "...Its... :
" an area, basket, cage, or other object or structure toward or into which players of various games attempt to throw, carry, kick, hit, or drive a ball, puck, etc., to score a point or points."
......Kidding xD But I Was Kinda Curious About The Word.. And This Is What I Got..
" The result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end."
Wonderful, I Have Many Goals ! :D
Kay So Here Is My Main One :
My Goal Is To Be A Social Worker. I Know Exactly What Your Thinking. " You Wanna Take People's Kids Away?! HOW MEAN! ". K. No.
Uh I'm Simply Bettering Their Lives. Why Would I Want To See The Innocence Taken From Them..?
But Anyways That's My Goal. Yes Of Course I Have Steps To Getting There. In The Link Provided Shows Education Steps Blaaaa Blaaaa Blaaaa -_- For Me? Personally? I'm Training My Personality. Such As Having Patience, Compassion, And Being A Good Listener. Yeah I Know I Have To Finish School And Go To College..Bleeeh Bleeeh Bleeeeeeh. Basically..I'm In The Process :) ....And The Race Has Just Begun.

1St.Spring Post..Yay (:

I Guess The Song I Chose In Class Was  " Captain Tying Knots Vs. Mr Walk Away ( No Way)" By Sleeping With Sirens.
Its A Pretty Depressing Song. I Like It. It's My Favorite.(:

Its Like A Story. All Of Kellin's Songs Are, They Have A Title That Doesn't Have A Line In The Song. That Kind Of Reminds Me Of Books And At Times Poetry. Pretty Cool Right?(:

I Most Definitely Think Music Is And Can Be Literature, Why? Well Because I Can Create A Story At This Very Second And Then I Can Publish It Once I'm Done. Then I Can Always Pick Up My Guitar And Create A Rhythm. Its That Simple. Just Time And Effort Needs To Be Put Into It. You Cant Make A Cake Without Love. It'll Come Out Flat.
